JEAN JOSEPH MERLIN SIDNEY

Born in Port-au-Prince, Jean Joseph Merlin Sidney, known as Densi, is a Haitian photographer whose artistic eye developed alongside his academic journey in agronomy. It was during his university years that he discovered photography—a deep passion he wouldn’t fully express until 2020, after beginning his first job as an agronomist. That’s when Densi Photography was born, a project through which he brings to life a sensitive and authentic vision of the world around him.

Specializing in portrait, landscape, and everyday life photography, Densi captures moments filled with emotion, always striving for truth and beauty. His artistic approach highlights the rich cultural and human heritage of Haiti, particularly in rural communities.

In November 2023, his work was recognized during an academic residency organized by the association Vers le Sud pour l'Éducation et la Culture, where he won the prize in the photography category. This recognition encouraged him to more deeply engage with the Haitian art scene.
