Our Story

  • Who we are

Atizay Art Collective is a mission-driven platform and community rooted in the celebration and advancement of Black visual artists. We curate experiences—exhibitions, artist spotlights, and creative gatherings—that center culture, connection, and creative visibility.

Built from the ground up to support emerging and established Black visual artists, Atizay creates space for expression, collaboration, and public engagement. Whether through artist-led events, city-based showcases, or our growing online network, we are building a collective future where Black creativity is supported, and celebrated on every level.

  • What we believe

At Atizay, we believe that art is a powerful force for connection, culture, and community. We are committed to building spaces—both online and in-person—where artists and art lovers can gather, grow, and collaborate. We amplify voices through our virtual magazine, where we highlight Black visual artists and provide practical resources and tools to support artists on their journeys—whether they're emerging talents or established visionaries.

At Atizay, we are building more than a platform—we are nurturing a movement grounded in creativity, visibility, and collective care.

Our Values

  • Culture

A shared collection of elements that bring us joy and connection—grounding us in our collective creativity, and celebration of culture.

  • Art

Atizay means “art” in Haitian Creole — the creative practice of turning ideas into form, inspired by imagination, culture, and care. We see art as a powerful way to express, connect, and reflect the world around us.

  • Diversity

Diversity is about creating space where different backgrounds, perspectives, and ways of being are not just welcomed, but reflected in what we build and share.

  • Blackness

Centering the creativity and experiences of Black visual artists; creating space for connection, visibility, and expression through art.
