GAELLE SEJOUR

Winner of the "Special Mention" award for the “Emerging Photography in Haiti” competition organized by FOKAL in October 2022, Gaëlle Séjour is a Haitian photographer based in Haiti. She has been practicing commercial photography full-time since 2015. Gaëlle studied visual arts at the University of Moncton in New Brunswick and holds a certificate in photography/videography from the Marsan Photography College in Montreal.

Her primarily artistic education shaped her personality and gave her a deep and diverse artistic culture, as well as keys to better understand the world and the complexity of human beings.
Gaëlle was introduced to the world of art by her father and sister. Patient, attentive, and meticulous, their influence encouraged her to dive deeper into this creative realm. As an introvert, Gaëlle finds in photography a way to freely express her creativity and intimate personal worlds. Deeply immersed in art, she seeks to reflect the tensions of her soul, her community, and nature through her imagery.

Her images are filled with emotion and stem from a world she has built for herself—one that represents her space of comfort and growth, and into which she warmly invites others.
Though photography holds a special place in her life, Gaëlle also devotes time to other passions of equal value, such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, and drawing.

  Gagnante du prix "Mention Spéciale" pour le concours "Fonds pour la photographie émergente en Haïti" organisé par FOKAL en octobre 2022, Gaëlle Séjour est une photographe haïtienne basée en Haïti. Elle pratique la photographie commerciale à plein temps depuis 2015.
  Gaëlle a fait des études en arts visuels à l’Université de Moncton du Nouveau-Brunswick et détient un certificat en photographie/vidéographie du Collège de photographie de Marsan à Montréal.

  Sa formation, essentiellement artistique, a forgé sa personnalité et lui a offert une culture artistique approfondie et variée et des clefs d’une rare richesse pour mieux appréhender le monde et les êtres humains dans leur complexité.
  Gaëlle a été initiée au monde artistique par son père et sa sœur. Patiente, attentive et méticuleuse, cette influence l’a poussée à s’immerger davantage dans ce monde. Introvertie, grâce à la photographie, Gaëlle laisse libre cours à sa créativité et à l’expression d’univers personnels et intimes. Profondément imprégnée d’art, elle cherche à représenter les tensions de son âme, de sa communauté, et celle de la nature à travers des images.

  Ses images sont porteuses de beaucoup d’émotions venant d’un univers qu’elle a conçu pour elle-même représentant sa zone de confort et d’épanouissement et dans lequel elle vous invite tous à vous aventurer.
  La photographie a une place particulière dans sa vie mais Gaëlle partage son temps entre d’autres passions qui ont pour elle tout autant de valeur telles: la peinture, la sculpture, l’estampe et le dessin.
